EK Lippenmeyer
Since childhood I've had a fascination with the cosmos, which grew in my late teens to a deep interest in science, philosophy, and religion, which has only increased with the passing years. Rigorous thinkers are too few, as are consistent thinkers, but when I find one who is both I am delighted. And if this soul is also a fearless thinker, this is even rarer and better, becoming an aspiration as well as an inspiration.
I have long been convinced that the best of science, the best of philosophy, and the best of religion can all contribute to help man feel at home in the universe; all are needed to make the best sense of reality. Succinctly, science is the pursuit of facts, philosophy is the pursuit of meanings, and religion is the pursuit of values.
Many see science and religion as being at odds with each other. I recommend looking deeper, and I predict that they will be found to be in harmony with their roles of illuminating existence from opposite sides of the reality divide, when they both grow up (organised religion is still unacceptably dragging its feet). Philosophy is the harmoniser.
The human condition, not least my own, occupies much of my thinking time, the ideal human much of my daydreaming.
My optimism for the human race and the individual is undaunted, despite events and appearances to the contrary.
Humour is essential to help us take ourselves less seriously, and it often will wend its way into my writings, even on rather serious subjects.
I am writing a series of articles across a range of subjects, under the umbrella of '... on a Shoestring': Philosophy on a Shoestring and Religion on a Shoestring being but two of these broad subjects containing numerous sub topics. In the world of fiction writing, I am polishing and repolishing some novels, but fear I may rub them completely away...
